Patient Presentation
A 12 years old, medically fit girl presented to our clinic complaining of pain related to her upper right central incisor.
Upon clinical examination, the tooth was tender to percussion, negative to cold test, and had mobility grade 2. To add, patient had a swelling in the apical area related to her upper right central incisor.
Patient was fatigued, and her body temperature was above normal.
History
Patient had a trauma to her upper right central incisor more than 3 years ago. It resulted in a crown fracture, which was repaired with simple composite filling with no follow up for pulp vitality.
Diagnosis
Necrotic Pulp with Acute Apical Abscess
Management
Immediate
- Incision and drainage.
- Emergency access cavity.
- Temporization.
Later On
- Full root canal treatment, mobility got better so there was no need for splinting.
