Root canal
questions.
A thin rubber sheet placed around the tooth during treatment. It keeps saliva and bacteria out of the canal, keeps the area dry, and stops you from swallowing any solutions or small instruments. We use it on every root canal.
It is done under local anaesthesia, so most patients find it feels like having a filling. Some tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal.
Many cases are completed in a single visit. Some, for example teeth with an active infection, need a second visit.
Not always. Front teeth and back teeth with most of their structure left can often be restored with a filling. We recommend a crown only when the tooth needs it.
Removing more of the root than needed leaves thinner walls that are more likely to crack. We clean and shape only what is needed to disinfect the canal.
For complex cases, such as severely curved or calcified canals or a root canal that needs redoing, an endodontic specialist treats you here at our clinic.
It depends on the tooth and the number of canals. You get the cost before treatment starts, and it is the same price for every patient.
